Mary Plantation spans 7 1/2 acres of fertile river ground with groves of ancient oaks twisted and bended through time as if they were speaking the untold stories of the love and life they witnessed through their centuries. Mary is undergoing a wonderful transformation with the recent addition of a beautiful meandering walking trail circling the plantation grounds and a charming wedding chapel. Opening in early 2015 will be Mary’s Reception Barn that will accommodate up to 320 people along with a delightful Guest House available for weekend or weekly rental.
Mary Plantation is located about 22 miles downriver of New Orleans on the East Bank of the Mississippi River in the city of Braithwaite in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana. The unique name of the parish is taken from the Indian word “piakimin” for persimmon. Just upriver of Mary is English Turn, a landmark bend in the Mississippi river.
